This shop will definitely be on your to-do list for your next trip to Paris. Discover more about it here and in the next episode of your Lifestyle program Tendance XXI.

Our grandmothers used to shop for all the necessary items such as bedding, cleaning tools, furniture, kitchen tools and kitchenware in one single shop. In French, we call these kinds of shops “drogueries, quincailleries and merceries”.
This is from where La Trésorerie, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, took inspiration. In this chic bazaar, all the pieces are beautifully designed, fashionable and made in France and Europe.

The building

This 300sqm loft space store is located 2 minutes from Place de la République in a street that used to be dedicated to Public services and administrations: i.e. The Labour Council (Bourse du Travail); the Social Protection (Securité Sociale); and the Principal Treasury (Trésorerie Principale) of the 10th Arrondissement or district.

The store itself remains in the original architecture from 1870 with bars on the front façade and the “RF” sign (which stands for République Française) on the front pediments, its wooden double-leaf doors at the entrance…  (Source Francetoday)
The name “La Trésorerie” (The Treasury) was also carefully kept to evoke the old buildings, and because it thoroughly describes what it is: this store is a gold mine…

“La Trésorerie” was founded by 3 enthusiasts whose names are Elsa Coustals, Lino Landau and Denis Geffrault (more info about Denis Greffault here).
All of them are passionate about functional, simple and everyday life objects. They are also willing to take into account the current environmental issues and consider a suitable remuneration for the work achieved
It’s a real treasure for craft- and eco-conscious housewares, hand-picked from all over Europe (90% of articles are made in Europe) and France (33% of suppliers are French).

90% of the products have been created by suppliers who have their own production tool (factory or workshop) and priority is given to those who have an environmental approach in their way of producing.
So far, they deliver in France and Europe but they might be able to deliver to Asia and Pacific, who knows?

Coffee time, the bonus

The shop has its own Coffee shop, called Café Smörgas (named after a Swedish dish). There you can sit down and enjoy both yummy snacks or drinks such as Tartines and coffee…
