Are you ready to celebrate Canada Day? We will explain you how to make the perfect Canadian Flag Cake!

Our Canadian friends are celebrating CANADA DAY today! And guess what, this year Canada is 149 years old! What an age! In deed on July 1st in 1867, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Province of Canada were united into a single country. At that time, many Canadians identified themselves as British. It took quite a long time for Canada to gain independence from England and to become fully independent (in 1982).
Today, Canada Day is celebrated all over the country including Québec of course, with fireworks, concerts, festivals, sport games, and all kind of public gatherings. Ottawa, the capital city holds most activities, but you can really get the feeling of joy and the proud of being Canadian all over the country.

Canada Day is almost as important as Christmas and it also happens during the warmest month of the year. Many families organize family gatherings with barbecues, fried dough. People go to carnivals, fishing, rafting, or watch the patriotic festivities launched from Parliament Hill…  and of course, Canadian love to eat Canadian flag cupcakes or cakes.
In order to celebrate this event from where you are, we have just prepared a yummy recipe of a Canadian Flag Cake! It’s beautiful, it’s delicious, and it’s perfectly Canadian!
Are you ready?

To make it you’ll need:
1 pkg. (298 g) prepared pound cake, cut into 12 slices
2 cups boiling water
2 pkg. (85 g each) Jell-O Strawberry Jelly Powder
3 cups ice cubes
3 cups sliced fresh strawberries, divided
2 cups thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping
Prep Time: 15min.
Total Time: 4hr. 30min.
Servings: 12 servings, 1 piece (183 g) each
Make It:
1) Cover bottom of 13x9-inch dish with cake slices; set aside.

2) Add boiling water to jelly powders in large bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved.
3) Add ice cubes; stir 3 to 5 min. or until ice is melted.
4) Remove any unmelted ice. Stir in 1 cup strawberries; pour over cake. Refrigerate 15 min.

5) Cover with Cool Whip.

6) Refrigerate 4 hours or until jelly is firm. Arrange remaining berries over dessert to resemble the Canadian flag. Click here for a maple leaf template and detailed instructions. Don’t forget the edges!

You can also quick-set the jelly using frozen sliced strawberries. Dissolve the jelly powders in boiling water as directed. Add 1 cup each frozen strawberries and ice cubes; stir 3 to 5 min. or until thickened. Remove any unmelted ice. Continue as directed, decorating with 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries.

Plus, if you don't like jelly, use Strawberry Jam.
How to Decorate Dessert
Using a toothpick, trace a maple leaf pattern on top of dessert. Place a strawberry slice on each leaf point, then fill in the leaf with remaining strawberries.
Enjoy and Happy Canada Day!!!!
