1) It was created in 1999 in Paris by Atanase Périfan, an inhabitant from the 17th district in Paris

2) It takes place every year on a Friday evening around May 27th

3) The idea is to meet and get to know the neighbours, to fight against isolation, to develop the concept of belonging to the same neighbourhood and to create a solidarity between neighbours

4) Everyone can be an initiator simply by leaving notes and invitations inside the neighbours’ letterbox

5) The celebration is also called “Immeubles en fête” (Apartment’s party)

6) Depending if it is in a city or in the countryside, gatherings can involve from around 10 people up to 50 or a hundred!

7) Neighbours gather in a common space rather than in someone’s home and each person usually brings a dish easy to share with others

8) On the first year in France 10,000 citizens gathered from 800 apartment blocks in Paris

9) Last year in 2015 in France, more than 8 millions people participated across France
