★Another Christmas decoration: The Nativity scene

The nativity scene or the “crèche de Noël” is part of the French tradition and is created in many homes during Christmas time.

The goal of the nativity scene is to represent the birth of Jesus. Static figurines that are representing Jesus, Mary and Joseph are disposed in a barn or a cave. Sometimes there are more religious characters and animals such as shepherds, sheep, angels...

Based on the tradition, the nativity is first installed with all the figurines except for Jesus, whose figurine is last to be placed on the night between the 24th and 25th. Jesus is always placed in the center between Marie and Joseph.

The crèche is usually located under the Christmas tree or against a wall.

These nativity scenes are not only created at home but also in churches, Christmas markets and malls.
